Twas the week before Christmas and all through Jonathan’s Place,
The children were stirring as is often the case.
The state troopers and friends all had arrived
When, pointing in the distance, a child’s eye aimed,
“Look! A helicopter!” the child proclaimed.
Well, to be sure, his glazed remained.
And soon all the children, all victims of abuse,
Stared off in the distance when told the good news.
When the helicopter came close, a red-dressed figure appeared
“Why, it’s Santa Claus,” the children all cheered.
The adults stood back, all believing once more,
And watched the children as their cheers began to roar.
Santa landed and greeted the girls and boys
His helicopter sleigh was filled with toys.
The gifts, collected by DPS employees,
were handed out by Santa, who knelt to his knees.
While the children may forget what exactly they received
They’ll always remember the experience that our friends at DPS achieved.
On behalf of all the children in our care, Jonathan’s Place thanks everyone at DPS who helped make this special day come true.
