Bobbie Rhea Lucas
7.12.1926 – 3.28.2014
It would be no surprise to anyone who knew Bobbie Lucas that she would be the first to volunteer to help paint murals in the children’s rooms at Jonathan’s Place. Art was her passion, and she loved to share her talent.
The members of The Interior Design Society/DFW selected Jonathan’s Place as their Community Service Project for 2010. The Mike Modano Infant Cottage was tired and worn after years of servicing the abused and neglected children of Dallas County. IDS members rallied the troops, raised money and dug their hands deep into the creative clay in order to bring the cottage back to life.
Jonathan’s Place held a special place in Bobbie’s heart. Her daughter, Kendra Favors, was honored to be chosen to be the lead designer for the expansion project at Jonathan’s Place new campus. Bobbie served as design assistant serving in all aspects of the process from helping to select artwork and fabrics to making sure accessories were detailed and made ready for display.
Bobbie lived her last years at Heritage House of Richardson, a Residential Care Home that specializes in bringing quality to the lives of people who have reached a time in life where they need extra assistance. This very special group home is owned and operated by family members, Jack and Cindy Boggs. She brought much joy to the other residents and her caregivers.
She approached life with a fun attitude and a smile. Her spirit will live on through the lives that she touched. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested gifts to be made in Bobbie’s memory to support the children at Jonathan’s Place.
